Two Finished Flimsies

Selvage Quilt: Flimsy Status Achieved!

The (first) selvage quilt is a finished quilt-top!

I took a couple of photos before folding it up and putting it with the others waiting to be quilted.  I keep forgetting just how many there are in that backlog, now.  It’s time to get to work on that…

But for now, here are a couple of photos of the flimsy.  Though it’s been a while since I started it, in actual sewing time, it came together quickly.  And it barely made a dent in the selvages I’ve collected, so there will be more selvage quilts to come—which means this can’t just be “The Selvage Quilt”.  Let’s just be completely straightforward and call it the “Selvage HST Quilt”, I guess!  (I’ll have forgotten that by the time I get around to quilting it.)

Crumb Toss: Quilt-Top Finished!

This one also felt like it came together quickly, though I began working on the first crumb strips a long time back.

Pressing the denim wasn’t always easy, but it’s done now!

Is it just me, or does this quilt make you feel… watched?  It must be all those eyes “I”s.  Ok, not really, but in this orientation, the denim does look like a wall of uppercase “I” shapes!  Turned the other way, it’s very stretched-out capital “H”s.

Next Quilt Project

Maybe I should focus on quilting, rather than piecing, but sometimes piecing is what I want to do, so I’ll just try to spend some time doing both.

I gave the Juki a good cleaning and changed the needle, then jumped right in with another selvage project.  This one is going to be fairly large-scale sawtooth stars, or at least that’s the current plan.  All colors mixed together for this one!

Watercolor Doodle Trees

I haven’t photographed or scanned much else since last time, but I do have a couple of quick photos of the two additional “watercolor doodle trees” I think I mentioned last time.

I started by painting two sets of the trees on the same sheet of paper… Two different palettes:

Then I doodled on them in black ink and cut them apart (though they still need a little trimming down to even out the white space on the edges.

Welcome!

I’m Michael (a female Michael, to remove any doubt).  I live on the Alabama Gulf Coast with my husband, Donald, and our crazy American Eskimo Dogs.

I love to fill my spare time with various crafts and other hobbies, and this blog is where I share photos, record my progress, and ramble endlessly.
