Pumpkins & October Doodles

Where did October go?!  We’re about to start the last week, and I feel like I’ve done almost none of the October-y arts and crafts I had in mind.  I’ll just have to do them out of season.

I did start and nearly finish a Halloween-themed table runner, but I thought I’d finish it before blogging about it, since it’s such a small project.

Otherwise, I haven’t done much “seasonal” stuff—just a few more vaguely spooky watercolor doodles and some pumpkins… I had planned to do more, and if the mood strikes, I might doodle-paint spooky houses, etc., regardless of the time of year.

It’s unseasonably warm in our area right now, but at least it’s been a lot nicer than it was in August and most of September.

More Hillside Villages

Last time, I mentioned that I’d been doodling more hillside villages.  Since then, I’ve been painting them in.

Because it was fun to see the first one with the trees, sky, etc. in black in white, I decided to do that again with this one, starting with the buildings and pausing to take a photo:

And here’s the whole thing, done and scanned.  (I didn’t bother taking photos of the rest of these… Scanning is just easier, though it definitely gives it a slightly different look.)

For the next village, I decided to go for autumnal foliage:

After that, I went for a more blue-ish, minty-toned forest:

Spooooky Village

I think I used mostly White Nights granulating paints for this one—a more spooky village with some run-down, abandoned buildings, mysterious lights/orbs, and a couple pairs of watching eyes.  Scanning made some of the trees a bit more neon than they actually are, but I guess ectoplasm green is Halloweenish, too!

Spooooky (?) Garden

When I started this doodle, I had it in mind to create a spooky—possibly haunted—garden.  However, after a while, I decided that I’m not sure if it’s actually spooky or not.  Is it overgrown or just exuberant and jungly?

I leave it up to you to decide whether or not it’s spooky.  Either way, I had fun with it, both doodling and painting it.

Pumpkins, Pumpkins Ev'rywhere

They’re just fun to do!

Welcome!

I’m Michael (a female Michael, to remove any doubt).  I live on the Alabama Gulf Coast with my husband, Donald, and our crazy American Eskimo Dogs.

I love to fill my spare time with various crafts and other hobbies, and this blog is where I share photos, record my progress, and ramble endlessly.
