3 Materials Challenge: Day 10
Today we were expecting a delivery at a certain time, so I thought it would be a good idea to preemptively shut the dogs in my craft room (with me) so Frodo wouldn’t make it difficult for Donald come and go as necessary. (Yes, Frodo doesn’t always behave perfectly with regards to the door… He needs more training!)
However, I’d forgotten that Luna doesn’t like being shut up in my craft room, even when I’m in there with them. She’s a silly, stubborn girl and will bark (loudly and persistently) in protest. Frodo, meanwhile, was mostly quiet and sweet and well-behaved. They definitely have their quirks!
I decided to draw a cartoony Luna barking for my 3MC sketch of the day—but I’d just barely started when Donald came to release them from prison open the door. In the end, I just doodled some vaguely Eskie-ish dogs out of my head, all voicing their disapproval of the situation.
The three materials I used today: A black Uni-ball Vision Needle with a micro tip, a yellow Hello Hobby brush marker, and a Kalour color pencil (“Aquamarine”, C054, I think).
So, does this count as observational drawing (or drawing from life)? Well, probably not, but I don’t think I care. I had more fun doing this than I have for at least the past two strictly observational sketches, and I think that’s what counts.
I’m not sure what “rules” I’ll follow for the rest of the month’s challenge, but since no-one cares but me, I might throw out the observational suggestion altogether. Depends on what I feel like, I guess.
