Catching up after not posting yesterday…
Inktober Day 7: "Starfish"
I’m finding it a real challenge to think of how to combine some of these prompts with dogs…
Here’s what I came up with for “starfish”, using some pink ink that I recently acquired:
I’m not sure if I’m putting my “comic panels” in the right/accepted order… Maybe they should go “across, then down” rather than “top-down in two columns”. With this one, I’m not sure my point (such as it is) gets across at all, but at least I tried! ;o)
Inktober Day 8: "Reckless"
Another “…huh?” prompt. I went with two separate examples of reckless dogs—circus dogs walking the highwire and doing trapeze acts, followed by a dog about to tease a sleeping cat.
Ugh, just realized I forgot to add the dog’s teeth with white pen as I’d intended to do (in the second half of the page), but I’ll just do that before tomorrow’s doodle, if at all! If I remember, I may come back and replace this with the updated photo (and remove this text).
Potted Plants
I haven’t been doing as much “other stuff” (in terms of fun, art-related stuff) since starting the kind-of/sort-of Inktober challenge. This always seems to happen. I think even the extremely minimal pressure of this type of challenge saps my energy and enthusiasm. That’s probably the opposite of the desired effect, right?!
Anyway, I made myself stay at the table a little longer tonight after finishing the day’s prompt. I wasn’t up for too much effort, but I started painting the base layer for some potted plants, at least.
I’ll return to them (tomorrow, maybe?) with ink and maybe some color pencil. We’ll see!
