Inktober: Puzzling & Onion

Catching up after not posting yesterday…

Inktober Day 26: "Puzzling"

This one went wrong with the middle dog (the EARS!), but I’m sticking with the “no torn-out pages” method.  Just do the best you can with the mistakes you make.  It’s more about just doing something and getting one day closer to done, at this point.

(Could you tell that the dog on the right is holding the missing puzzle piece in its mouth?)

Lexington Gray ink with touches of gouache and a using whatever was on the palette to make the pink.

Inktober Day 27: "Onion"

I think this was the first thing that came to mind when I thought about combining “dog” with “onion”.

The “teacher” is holding the pointer in a weird way, but oh well!

More Lexington Gray ink, with some watered down gouache for rough tinting.

Just Doodle It!

As I wrote last time, if I just make myself sit down and start, I usually enjoy the process—but getting started is the hurdle. So last night, instead of just sitting in front of the laptop, scrolling endlessly or watching videos on YouTube, I decided to jump right in and doodle something while listening to/watching someone on YouTube talk about art and craft supplies she regretted buying.  (I like to listen to things while I doodle.  It makes it more enjoyable, in my opinion.  Sometimes music is okay, but generally I prefer talk radio, audiobooks, a podcast, or a “talky” video, TV show, or movie I can just listen to without watching.)

Yeah, I like doodling pumpkins.  Why fight it?  (Especially this time of year, when it’s seasonally appropriate!)

I’m still working through that first load of brown ink I put into the Little Fat Man fude nib fountain pen.  That thing holds a lot of ink!

Doodling this half-page was pleasant, and now I get to have fun coloring them in with watercolor!

Welcome!

I’m Michael (a female Michael, to remove any doubt).  I live on the Alabama Gulf Coast with my husband, Donald, and our crazy American Eskimo Dogs.

I love to fill my spare time with various crafts and other hobbies, and this blog is where I share photos, record my progress, and ramble endlessly.
