Inktober Day 6: "Pierce"
Today’s prompt felt tricky to draw, especially with my goal of combining the prompts with dogs. The only thing I could think of was a dog with earrings (pierced ears). I asked AI for some alternative ideas, and one of them was a soccer ball being pierced/popped by a dog—so here we have it:
I changed it to a regular inflated ball, because drawing soccer balls seemed needlessly messy. It’s not my finest work, even by cartoony doodle standards—especially the legs in the last pane—but at least it’s something.
I dabbed on a little gouache and watercolor to add interest.
Finishing a Page of Pumpkins
You may remember a few posts back I shared a photo of two sketchbook pages painted with pumpkins in two different styles. Then the next day or so I posted how the first one looked after I added ink. Tonight I inked over the second page, so here’s that:
I used some pink/magenta ink for this one, as you can see. I wasn’t sure how it would look with these colors, but I like it!
Bon Appetit!
This morning, Donald noticed that a female cardinal was eating flower petals off the “swamp sunflowers” (Helianthus angustifolius) growing in our backyard. I started videoing. After eating one or two more petals, the female stopped eating, then left, but the male cardinal next to her then helped himself to some delicious petals.
We just thought it was funny. I wouldn’t have thought birds would eat flower petals!
For some reason, the video quality looks worse on YouTube than it does on my phone, but this is nearly my first try uploading anything, so I guess I need to look into it if I’m going to add more videos… (Why is this stuff always more complicated that it seems it should be?!)
