Inktober: Deal

Inktober Day 18: "Deal"

I wasn’t especially inspired by today’s prompt, and that probably shows.  But still, a quick dog-themed doodle-a-day it is:

Other Doggy Doodles

A couple of days ago, I was trying out a brush-tipped fountain pen that I’d filled with Noodler’s Bulletproof Black but hadn’t really done much with, yet.  It’s an extremely cheap pen, and I’m not sure how to use it, really, but it might be fun.

This time, I combined the brush pen with a traditional nibbed pen filled with the same ink.  Just doodling some dogs…

For most (if not all) of the dogs, I used the brush pen to roughly sketch the dog shape, then I went back over some of them with the other pen to add a bit more/sharper detail.

The flow of the brush pen was hard to control!  Sometimes it left nothing but a faint grey line—which can actually be really useful, at times.  It allowed me to make some lighter marks for fur, for example.  Other times, the ink came out faster and heavier than I expected, so I ended up with a few blobs here and there.  It’s unpredictable, so probably best for a very loose and impressionistic style.

I imagine you can run through the ink pretty quickly with this thing, too, so probably better not to use it with anything too precious.

One of the Real Dogs

Frodo followed me into the room when I went to take photos for today’s post, so I snapped one of him, too.  He tends to look a little anxious when you point a camera (or a phone) at him, and he doesn’t always want to sit long for his portrait. ;o)

At least he was smiling for the camera this time!

Welcome!

I’m Michael (a female Michael, to remove any doubt).  I live on the Alabama Gulf Coast with my husband, Donald, and our crazy American Eskimo Dogs.

I love to fill my spare time with various crafts and other hobbies, and this blog is where I share photos, record my progress, and ramble endlessly.
