Artober 24th and 25th

I didn’t manage to post last night (more on that later), so I’m combining two days into one entry.

Last time, I shared a photo of a page with watercolor mushroom shapes and said the plan was the doodle on top with ink.  That’s what I did yesterday, though I ended up doing a different type of doodle than planned.  I’d originally intended to make the mushrooms into whimsical houses, but when the time came, I just didn’t feel like putting that much effort into it.  Instead, I kept the whole thing much more simple:

I used a fude nib pen with the ‘Smoky Mauve’ Diamine Forever Ink.

I think it’s kind of boring, honestly, but on the positive side, I like the colors and the spatter.  I don’t often add spatter to my paintings, but maybe I should consider it from time to time.

After that, I thought I’d just play around in my on-going dog-themed gluebook.  I didn’t do anything too elaborate or “fancy”, but just getting out the different supplies was a fun change of pace.

Today, I ended up doing just a few more pages in the gluebook.  I had found a couple of pages of ugly doodles of dogs and thought they might as well go in there, too—along with a little of this and a little of that from the fodder pile.

The first couple pages:

The last page so far:

Nothing special (clearly), but some days it’s nice to just let things be ugly and messy, with no expectations of doing anything more than goofing off with a glue stick, scissors, paper, and some art supplies.

Friday night, we had a family campfire at Mom and Dad’s house.  The weather has been perfect for campfires, lately!

It’s always good to see everyone and enjoy a good fire together!

(I made two gifs of the fire, so why not post both of them?)

One day recently (Friday or Saturday?) we noticed Pippin lying in kind of a funny position, with his front legs at a weird angle and his paws crossed.  He stayed that way for a long time while we watched and took photos.  (Probably wondering why we were staring like that…)

And to circle back to why I didn’t post last night (apart from the fact that I just wasn’t feeling motivated), we lost power for a while in the evening.  Apparently someone had a car accident and broke a utility pole.  I think no-one was hurt, at least, but quite a few houses were without power for a little while—and then it flickered off and on again overnight, which turned on a lot of our lights and caused some beeps that woke us up.  (Maybe that was when they finished putting up the new pole and had to temporarily disconnect it again.)

Anyway, I took that as my excuse to just skip the day’s blog entry—and Pippin’s night-time play session was conducted by LED lamplight:

Speaking of Pippin’s playtime, I guess it’s time to go do that, now.

There’s less than a week left of ‘Artober’. This month has flown by!

Welcome!

I’m Michael (a female Michael, to remove any doubt).  I live on the Alabama Gulf Coast with my husband, Donald, and our crazy American Eskimo Dogs.

I love to fill my spare time with various crafts and other hobbies, and this blog is where I share photos, record my progress, and ramble endlessly.
