Another Day, Another 3MC

3 Materials Challenge: Day 19

Just wanted to get this done—(that’s the spirit!)—so I chose something off my desk.  I have a couple of tiny ceramic figurines I used to use for brush rests.  I don’t tend to use them for that purpose much, these days, but I’ve left them where they were, cozy amongst the arts and crafts supplies…  (Judging by this photo, I haven’t dusted in a while!  It’s a shock, I know…)

Materials used:

  • Uni-ball Vision Needle micro (black)
  • Kalour color pencil (pewter green, C060)
  • Kalour color pencil (orange bronze, C119)

Endless Art Challenge

An unintended side effect of the 3MC is that I’m not doing as much “other stuff” in the craft room.  That’s not good!  I don’t think I’ll be extending the challenge beyond the end of January.  Maybe I’ll try it again after a break, with a different type of paper and a different set of goals.

At least I did pull out the Endless Art Challenge deck of cards again, this weekend.

My prompts this time were:

  • Pick One: Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall
  • Burnt Orange
  • Add More Texture

I took my cue from the burnt orange and decided to make a fall-themed doodle.  Burnt orange fallen leaves came to mind, as well as pine cones, so I water-color doodled a square frame of those things, then outlined and added details in black pen.

I wasn’t sure about the “add more texture” prompt.  Was what I had already “enough” texture?  The paint is pretty flat, but the inked lines count as texture, don’t they?  In the end, I added some watercolor pencil twigs/branches, then more of the same in some faint, watered-down watercolor.

I think that’s enough texture, but in the process, I somehow marked the area inside the frame, which I’d been planning to just leave blank.  Okay, better put something there… I had misgivings about the phrase “falling for autumn”, because it sounds like the title of a book or Hallmark movie—a romance involving someone named “Autumn”, but oh well!  At least I did something other than the 3MC stuff.

Welcome!

I’m Michael (a female Michael, to remove any doubt).  I live on the Alabama Gulf Coast with my husband, Donald, and our crazy American Eskimo Dogs.

I love to fill my spare time with various crafts and other hobbies, and this blog is where I share photos, record my progress, and ramble endlessly.
